Who Hosts a Shower? Customarily hosted by the Maid of Honor or the Bridesmaids. May also be held by a relative, close friend, or co-worker. Previously, strict etiquette said that it was not appropriate for the mother or sister to host the shower. However, these days, the rules are greatly relaxed and, in many areas of the country, it is quite customary for relatives to hold the wedding shower. Even if the family is not hosting the shower, they can help share the cost by chipping in for supplies or offering their house as a shower location. It is not necessary to be invited to the wedding in order to host a shower. Examples of this may be if you are a co-worker or business associate.
