Setting the date Before finalizing the date, the hostess usually consults with the bride (unless a surprise party). Four to six weeks before the wedding is the ideal time hold the bridal shower. Of course, this may vary depending on individual circumstances. If there will be other celebrations around the same time, check with other hostesses to avoid scheduling two parties on the same weekend. Make sure you have enough time to do all the planning. Reserve enough time for invitations to be sent out and RSVP replies to be received. If your guests work, a weekend party may be easier to schedule. Think about your guests and what would suit them best.
