Absentee Shower

Today with so many friends and family scattered all over the country, this may be the only way to have a shower for the bride and groom. Invite guests to come to the shower with unwrapped gifts. Take plenty of pictures of the guests for the couple to enjoy. Have each guest bring wrapping paper, ribbon and a card and after all have seen the gifts, have a wrapping party! Serve refreshments as you would with any other shower. The hostess should pack the gifts and send them to the bride. (If you can arrange it, try to get the bride on the phone, so she can enjoy the shower at the same time!)

Invitation Idea
Cut out the shape of the state where the bride is residing. Be sure to tell your guests that the bride will not be with you in person, but she will "visit" by phone!

Decoration Idea
Place photographs of the bride at various ages around the room. If possible have one made into a poster and place it in the place of honor. Place all the gifts around her, and you'll almost think she's with you! Don't forget to decorate your home for your guests with a pretty table, and a flower centerpiece.
